Category:Person
This is a category for pages on people associated with Chester. With a view to keeping the list to mostly historical characters, sportspeople have been omitted (a list is available on Wikipedia). For some of them we can actually put a face to the name (although for the "stained glass" cases the images are an "artists impression" - and some, like Gherbod may not have existed at all), so the page has a gallery of those whose image survives and whose life and times can be further explored. The virtual "Keeper of Pictures" for the "Chester in (just over) 100 people" gallery is the late Peter Boughton, who amassed an impressive art collection at the Grosvenor Museum. Click on the link under the portrait to find out more. It is quite fun to see if you know what their connection with Chester is before clicking on the link:
